Since 2010, Archetype has been working under guidance from leading neurological and orthopedic experts including Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Jeffrey Dugas of the Andrews Center for Sport and Orthopedic Medicine, neurological experts from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, as well as research experts from the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) to develop a new platform for monitoring and identification of injuries in sport. The collaboration has produced the PlayerMD Biometric Platform, a truly next-generation technology suite for performance monitoring and biometric indication of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and overheating in sport. The PlayerMD platform consists of wireless biometric skullcaps or headbands, a sideline wireless micro-concentrator to collect biometric data on the field, a centralized HIPAA-approved medical data storage facility, a secure Internet-enabled website for accessing data and performing player-specific performance analysis, and an alerting system that can text or email intended recipients based on specific events. Additional options including real-time monitoring of blood oxygenation levels, heart rate, and other adverse conditions are available for an additional fee.
